Hearing Hangeul 보고 듣는 한글

Hangeul is the writing system for the Korean language, and the only alphabet in the world whose inventor is known. Furthermore, each letter is designed based on the shapes of the mouth, tongue, and throat when spoken, making it one of the most scientific and interesting alphabetic systems.

As Hangeul is derived from how they are articulated, one could say that the shapes of Hangeul visually suggest the sounds they represent. 보고 듣는 한글 Hearing Hangeul (direct translation: see and hear Hangeul) is a short booklet introducing 3 projects that showcase how Hangeul can be heard visually.

Design Concept

To convey the concept that the sound of Hangeul can be felt visual, I designed the phase '보고 듣는 한글' such that the viewer would first see it as a picture, then notice that it is made up of the shapes of Hangeul and hence read it. The title of booklet is written in the bottom right hand corner for clarity.
