glow is a redesign of a Daiso fabric shaver that aims to serve both aesthetic and function through its unconventional design.
The original product analysed for redesign is a fabric shaver product from Daiso Japan.
Increase the surface area of the cutter used to remove lint.
Design a handle that can slot into the body of the product.
USB charging instead of batteries.
Make the brush longer for a more comfortable grip.
Design grooves that clearly indicate where the user should grip the product for use.
Maintain the geometric shape concept of the original product, and use black, white and silver to improve the aesthetics.
The focus of the redesign is mainly on high portability and efficiency, with having a comfortable handle, suitable size for easy storage, and a large surface area for lint removal being the focal parts for redesign. White, black, and silver colours are used for a simple and modern appearance. The material has a matte finish for a deluxe look.
The transparent lint compartment can be pulled upwards to function as a handle. At the same time, the size of the lint compartment is increased, allowing the user to use the product for a longer time before having to remove the lint collected.
A large surface area allows for quick and efficient removal of lint.
The brush stays in place with the help of magnets. It can be easily removed for use by pushing the edge of the brush into the notch on the right.
Black and white minimalist design options, with silver metallic accents.
